SQUASH

Squash is a racket sport played on a court entirely surrounded by walls or possibly glass walls to allow spectators during international tournaments. It involves hitting a small black rubber ball in such a way that your opponent cannot catch it. All other times, squash is one of the most calorie-intensive sports.

HOW IT'S PLAYED

Squash is played by two players in a four-walled room, where players hit a rubber ball with a racket. The goal is to return the ball to the front wall, either directly or after bouncing off a side wall or the back window, without letting the ball bounce more than once on the floor. The first player to reach 11 points (with a two-point margin) wins a set, and the match is usually played to the best of three or five sets.

BASIC SHOT

  • A fundamental shot played along the side walls, often aimed to go straight to the back of the court.

  • A shot hit before the ball bounces, usually played from the front of the court to keep the opponent moving.

  • The initial shot to start a point, either from the server or as a response from the receiver.

  • A delicate shot played short, making the opponent move to the front of the court and creating space.

  • A shot played off the side wall at an angle, designed to make the ball come off the front wall unpredictably.

  • Lob:
A high, arcing shot into the back of the court, used to buy time, create space, and force the opponent back.

 RACKETS

The best squash racket is one that is comfortable, allows you to play your best game, and meets your individual needs and preferences.

BALLS

For squash, the choice of ball depends on your level of play and the conditions of the venue. Squash balls are distinguished by their bounce, indicated by a colored dot. In addition, the temperature of the venue can influence the choice of ball, with balls bouncing less in cold weather and more in warm weather. It is therefore recommended to have several types of balls available.

SHOES

Choosing the right pair of squash shoes requires consideration of grip, cushioning, support, and breathability. Shoes should also have non-marking rubber soles to avoid damaging the court.

COURT

A squash court is a rectangular playing area enclosed by four walls, used for the sport of squash. It features specific dimensions and markings that define the boundaries and service areas. The court includes a front wall, side walls, and back wall, each with designated lines and areas
